Bullying: The book addresses this topic from the perspective of a bully who is afraid of becoming a victim himself.

Violence and combat: The book contains explicit descriptions of fights, including injuries caused by magic and weapons. Characters suffer serious injuries, such as broken ribs and open wounds. Magic is also used in violent ways that can cause severe physical harm.

Trauma and emotional distress: The characters struggle with guilt, loss and failure, especially in connection with failed rescue attempts and responsibility in war. They also deal with physical suffering and injuries.

Depression: Characters suffer from depression as a result of traumatic events. Its effects are addressed and are part of the character development.

Discrimination & racism: The book features humans and demons, who discriminate against each other. This includes violence, insults and oppression.
